Sci-Fighter
Game Sample (Portfolio Example Game)
For: Portfolio Sample
Genre: Sci-Fi (Multiplayer)
Roles: Writer
Sci-Fighter is a hypothetical sci-fi game I developed for my portfolio that’s meant as a stand-in for an open-world, sci-fi multiplayer game that features both FPS combat and spaceship combat.
Each of the samples in this collection are components of a single procedural mission titled “Civilians In Need of Assistance”. I wrote this sample to weave a larger picture of the world of the game and demonstrate different types of writing all created to support a single world and story.
-
The groundwork for this mission starts with the character description and casting call for the NPC mission-giver who will issue the quest.
-
The mission text and objectives were written with procedural tokens (example: <token>) so that the mission can be offered to multiple players simultaneously without risk of the involved locations overlapping.
-
Multiple scenes of branching dialogue have been written for various moments throughout the mission. They include variables (example: $charitable and $mercenary) to adjust the tone & content of the player’s dialogue with the NPC.
-
This brief describes and provides guidance on the design of one of the locations players may be assigned to deliver packages to.
-
This sample features barks written for generic NPCs that can be found in the location described in the previous sample.
A description and audition casting call for an important mission giver NPC for the Sci-Fighter sample game project.
